Cnicus breweri A. Gray, Proc. Amer. Acad. 10: 43. 1874.

Type collected in “Strawberry Valley near Mount Shasta
Brewer.” Several other collections are cited but Brewer’s specimen
should be considered the type.

Wet meadows near Deetz, just north of Shasta City, Siskiyou
County, California. Strawberry Valley is the old name for the
region about Shasta City.
