In sandy soil at base of hill; edges of thickets.
Transplants only. Tuberous roots formed on the
young plants at the end of long, lateral rootsj
these are absent in the 2nd year plants, i.e.,
the flowering plants. The vouchers were collected
from a garden-grown transplant on Aug. 4, 1964.
