Annotation by L. H. Shinners, 1945: Foliaceous outer phyllaries are not characteristic- perhaps indicating an influsion from some member of the Aster coerulescens-Aster foliaceus group.Narrow leaves and slender rootstock are typical, especially on the two left-hand specimens, as in early flowering.
