Collection Notes
["Herb. Hosack" inferred to be Dr. David Hosack's herbarium. In 1801, Dr David Hosack established the Elgin Botanic Garden, one of the first botanical gardens in the United States and the first in New York State. It was a medicinal herb garden associated with Columbia University (Columbia College at the time), used by its medical students. The site is where Rockefeller Center stands today.]
