var. puberula (Wieg.) Greene.

Wet sandy soil at edge of Lake Winona, an abandoned
channel of the Miss., just south of Winona, Winona
Co. Growing with B. frondosa L. Apparently differ-
ing constantly from the latter, in this locality
in its more numerous bracts, broader heads, palif
flowers, and more pubescence.
