Mixed restinga with high forest, bushy areas, damp open ground and march. This plant growing in bushy areas among open restinga.

Description
Spindly shrub to 2.5 m., with thin brittle stems. Leaves bright green, glossy above, paler beneath with midrib red-tinged. Inflorescence axes red, bracteoles red. Calyx green, tinged red. Petals bright magenta, stamens with white filaments otherwise dull purple. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
