Baileya multiradiata Harv. & Gray

I.TOHAVE CO.: In the desert 6 miles west-
northrrest of Kingtnsn. Mixed desert shrub
community, Larrea present but not dominant.
Elevation about 3300 feet.

Plants taprooted, perennial and eventually
developing a branched caudex atop the tap-
root, but blooming the first year and thus
capable of functioning as a winter-annual.
Heads yellow. liays 33-57, multiseriate,
becoming reflexed and papery-persistent.
