Specimen Notes
A single cone in bag (NY 61651) and no foliage. "Dr. Bigelow's cone no. 2, collected at Santa Rita del Cobre, New Mexico, is Pinus leiophylla var. chihuahuana (Engelm.) Shaw and represents at least part of the original specimen gathered in 1851 on the Mexican Boundary Survey and described by Dr. Torrey in the "Botany of the Boundar," 1859, p. 209." annotation by F. lauria, 1991.
