Fork of the Duchesne River, 17 km northwest
of Tabonia. T.l N., R.9 W., Sec. 26. Uinta
Special Meridian. Elevation 2250 m.
Scattered individuals in a stand of A.
tridentata var. vaseyana.

Plants 1.5-2.5 m tall, irregularly rounded
the inflorescences not notably surpassing the
vegetative parts. Flowers 5 per head, but
blooming later than var. vaseyana. Few
apparent intermediates.
