In rocky basaltic soil on gentle W-facing slope with Pinus. Quercus
& various grasses. Herbaceous perennials from stoloniferous
rhizomes; leaves bicolored, pinnatifid into linear segments (a few
entire); rays absent; outer florets pistillate, the inner bisexual.
