Series of rock shelves, forming a steep terraced
slope at base of low (12-ft.-high) SW-facing
sandstone cliff. Collected plants in half shade-half
sun at driest lowest edge of Pinus strobus (1st
dominant)-Acer rubrum (2 dom.)-Quercus velutina (3
dom.)-

Betula papyrifera (4 dom.) woods; assoc.: Carex
tonsa var. tonsa, Corylus americana, Dactylis
glomerata, Poa pratensis, and seedlings of Prunus
serotina and Quercus velutina.

Very local; one small clone 20 in. long X 18 in. wide.
