RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of Los Angeles County, California, USA ASTERACEAE Ancistrocarphus filagineus A. Gray Liebre Mountains, upper Osito Canyon between Interstate 5 and the Old Ridge Route on gentle slope with grassland patch and adjacent steeper slopes and canyon bottom. Near 34°37’40”N, 118°42’36”W. T6N R17W SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec. 8, SE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec. 7. Elev. ca 2560 - 2800 ft. Small stand of native grassland on break in slope, surrounding vegetation a mosaic of various chaparral elements. Mostly clayey soils developed on bedded sedimentary substrates. Chaparral of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Ceanothus cuneatus, and Cercocarpus betuloides. Grassland with Stipa, Avena barbata, and Hemizonia fasciculata.
