ASTERACEAE

Branched herbs to 7ft tall, locally common. At the edge of a
swamp forest in damp silty clay-loam (Convent soils; coarse-1
silty, mixed, superactive, nonacid, thermic Fluvaquentic
Endoaquepts). Growing with Acer negundo, Ampelopsis
arborea, Andropogon glomeratus, Campsis radicans, Celtis
laevigata, Cornus foemina, Desmodium perplexum,
Elephantopus carolinianus, Equisetum hyemale, Eupatorium I
coelestinum, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Platanus occidentalis,
Quercus laurifolia, Q. nigra, Rubus trivialis, Sapium
sebiferum, Smilax rolundifolia (?), Solarium carolinianum,
Solidago altissima, Spilanthes americana (?), Taxodium
distichum, & Toxicodendron radicans. Along the E side of a I
road below an artificial levee, & at the intersection with a gas|
line right-of-way, to the E side of the Atchafalaya River,
about 0.25mi N of the Rt. 190 bridge. Pointe Coupee Parish.
