Arnica scaberrima Greene. Half-moon Lake, El Dorado County, in the Sierra Nevada at 2500 m. altitude. In meadow along north side of lake, in moist soil with Veratrum, Solidago, Erigeron Coulteri, etc., surrounded by forest of Pinus contortm. Ligules deep yellow or orange. Exactly like the type (in Greene Herb.) as to pubescence, leaf- margins, involucre, akenes, and pappus; stems more slender and mostly with one more pair of leaves than in the type. Collected by H. M.
