The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S.A. Asteraceae Aster umbellatus Mill. ? det. M. Nee, 1993 Wisconsin, Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center. T 10 N; R 1 E; SWiNEi sect. 35. Abandoned pasture with many marsh and low prairie plants, in floodplain of Pine River, between the railroad and the river, with invasion of Alnus rugosa, Acer saccharinum. Erect herbs, to 1.2 m. tall, or taller at edge of brushy areas, in loose clumps or colonies; in higher areas with Phalaris arundinacea. Solidago spp. Inflorescences flat-topped; flowers odorless; rays.white; disc yellow. Voucher for bulk medicinal screening by Pfizer: 43825a ST (Nee-502); 43825b LF+IF (Nee-503).
