15484 Aster exllls ¿.11. Sk.2:344.1824

This spec i sub always appears in
i wet placés about rice fields many

miles from other localities. It does
not always grow in alkaline soil as
mentioned by Greene, FI. Franciscana
384. 1897» It was found along ditches
about rice fields north of Chico
where no plants occurred before
I irrigation for rice was begun. The
soil there is not alkaline, nor is
it in other rice regions in Butte
county where this species occurs.

One of the very few species common
to both the Atlantic and Pacific
regions.
