In canyon bottom. With Populus, Salix gooddingii, Ephedra torreyana, Viguiera frutescens resinosa, Vulpia, Fallugia, Chrysopsis villosa, Gutierrezia, Tamarix, Oenothera longissima, Cercis occidentalis, Datura wrightii, Mirabilis multiflora, Physaria newberryi, Astragalus molissimus, Rhamnus betulaefolia obovata, Stephanomeria pauciflora, Castilleja linariifolia, Amsonia tomentosa stenophylla, Thymophylla pentachaeta, Hymenoxys argentea, Gilia hutchsinfolia, Gaillardia, Penstemon eatonii, Senecio multilobatus, Fendlera rupicola, Coleogyne ramosissima, Chrysothamns, Stanleya wrightii, Juniperus, Sphaeralcea leptophylla, Fraxinus anomala, Galium, Oenothera pallida, Bromus rubens, Rhus trilobata simplicifolia, Opuntia polyacantha erinacea, Brickellia microphylla scabra. Locally common. Sandy or cryptogamic soil.
