  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 20 km. "above" the mouth of Rio Tarumã (at junction with Rio Negro), along Rio Negro. Interpretted "above" to mean in the direction away from the mouth of Rio Negro, moving away from Manaus and toward Novo Airão. Using Google Maps, located the confluence of Rio Tarumã and Rio Negro. Used measurement tool to measure approximately 20 km. (20.0018 km.) west along Rio Negro. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, along the land adjacent to the river (to the north). Used measurement tool (Google Maps) again to measure the linear extent of the junction of the two rivers. Input coordinates, linear extent (1427.63 m.), measurement error (.01 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find uncertainty radius.
