The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S. A. Asteraceae Aster ontarionis Wieg. det. M. Nee, 2011 Wisconsin, Richland Co., along Pine River, 0.5 km. SW of “center” of Gotham, 0.45 km. (by air) SE of Hwy. 60 bridge, 1.17 km (by air) NNE of junction with Wisconsin River. 43° 13’ 11 ”N, 90° 18’02”W. alt. 184 m. Along Pine River (and Wisconsin River) floodplain forest. Thin, irregular stand of Gleditsia triacanthos, Quercus bicolor, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Betula nigra, Acer saccharinum, the open areas and understory dominated by Phalaris arundinacea. Common in places, but the plants scattered and with inconspicuous inflorescences; with slender horizontal rhizomes. Rays white, perhaps with pale violet tinge; disc yellow, then purple. Coll.: M.
