Sandy bar along south side of river below forest of T. plicata and Abies grandis. Associated species: Panicum acuminatum, Agrostis tenuis, Centaurea maculosa, Juncus ensifolius.

Abundant tufted perennial with interconnecting rhizomes. Culms to nearly 1 m tall.
