    Abundant tufted perennial with interconnecting rhizomes. Culms to nearly 1 m tall.

Selway River. Sandy bar along south side of river, vie. 25 Mile
Bar, elevation ca. 1630 ft. T32N R9E S31 NWK. Common
rhizomatous perennial in sandy soil below high water line with
Panicum acuminatum, Agrostis tenuis, Carex lenticularis,
Equisetum. Below forest of Abies grandis, Thuja plicata.

Rays lavender.
