Plants perennial from cormoid, non-stoloniferous rhizomes; stems spreading hirsutulous, to 60 cm tall; involucre to 4.5 mm high; phyllaries strongly graduated, chartaceous with a rhombic, green tip; ray florets 14-21, pistillate, the ligules white; disc florets 15-18; pappus of numerous capillary bristles.
