Habitat
Undera thin canopy of Juglans nigra, Acer negundo, Styphnolobium japonicum on slope with some disturbance from trash, but not mowed, with much Eupatorium rugosum and formerly more Verbesina alternifolia.

Description
Forming moderately tight clumps of up to 8 stems, 1-1.2m tall. In full bloom, no insects seen (8:45 AM, sunny), flowers with only very faint odor; rays light violet with slight variation between clumps; disc flowers yellow when first open but turning darker violet than the rays. These plants had mature fruit on 2 Dec 2009. Large colony. From a distance the colony looks very similar to no. 56502 A. sagittifolius collected 0.45km to the N in a similar habitat. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
