31"» (ID) UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO HERBARIUM FLORA OF NORTHERN ROCKY MOUNTAIN PEATLANDS Aster eatonii (Gray) Howell State: Idaho, County: Bonner; Panhandle National Forest; Location: Potholes RNA, ca. 3 mi W of Priest Lake Ranger Station, SW 1/4 section 20 T61N, R5W, ele. 29801. Large, open peatland complex w/ numerous beaverponds connected by narrow channels w/ Nuphar polysepalum, Potamogeton natans, and Hippuris vulgaris being prominent in areas. Adjacent Sphagnum mats dominated by C. rostrata, C. limosa, Menyanthes trifoliata, and Eriophorum gracile. Scattered minerotrophic seeps characterized by Typha latifolia and scattered shrub carrs dominated by Alnus incana, Betula glandulosa, and Salix spp. Surrounding forest mixed w/ significant stands of old-growth cedar/hemlock in wet areas w/ Lysichitum americanum in the understory. Abundance: few to common, scattered on Sphagnum-covered substrate w/ Agrostis scabra, C. rostrata, C. limosa, and M. trifoliata. Rays lavender. 01826682 Collected by: R. Bursik 832 w/ C.
