8.6” W. Long. T. 33N. R. 2E, approximate center of
SECT. 21. 0.45 mile west of W 2401 Street (Deer Park
Road), north side of IL Route 71. just west of Covell
Creek, ca. 320 meters south-southwest of mile 237 of
Illinois River; west of South Ottawa. Deep quartz sand
with small silica-sandstone ledge outcrop.

Sand prairie remnant at west side of sand ridge. With
Opuntia humifusa, Cenchrus, Panicum, Arenaria
serpyllifolia, Rumex acetosella, Bromus tectorum,
Linaria canadensis, Leptoloma. Locally abundant
annual grass on open sand, full sun.
