Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic midpoint of Rio Casiquiare (synonymous with Brazo Casiquiare) in Mun. Río Negro, Amazonas, Venezuela. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Casiquiare. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line from the mouth of the river (confluence of Rio Casiquiare and Rio Negro) to the confluence of Rio Casiquiare and Rio Orinoco then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along the river nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the river, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent of the river by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river. Input coordinates, linear extent (93732.5 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
