Coastal evergreen conifer forest (boreal forest),
dominated by Abies balsamea, Picea rubens, Betula
papyrifera, Vaccinium angustifolium. Salt marsh below
on levels in littoral zone, dominated by Juncus
gerardi and Spartina spp. Locally common colonial
perennial grass with thick rhizomes, at upper high tide
mark, salt marsh edge, always seaward from Juncus and
Spartina patens in saltiest areas.
