Unshaded grassy roadside, seldom mowed, with typical weeds,
many introduced from Eurasia, in rich, disturbed soils of the area.
With Thladiantha dubia (first collection in Wisconsin), Physalis
longifolia, Solanum carolinense, Verbena hastata, Setaria glauca,
S.faberi, Chenopodium album', Amaranthus hybridus,
Parthenocissus inserta, Achillea millefolium, Ambrosia
artemisiifolia, A. trißda, Cichorium intybus, Echinocystis lobata.
Polygonum scandens, Saponaria officinalis, Asclepias syriaca,
Daucus carota, Heracleum lanatum, Pastinaca saliva, Plantago
cf. rugelii.

Abundant along edge of road where the other grasses are not too
dense and where mowing or other disturbance seems to be more
frequent; also abundant in adjacent heavily grazed river bottom
pasture where obviously not preferred by cattle. Inflorescences a
striking yellowish against the late afternoon sun.
