    Mata Cipó: open forest with many climbing plants and shrubby vegetation. Vegetation dries out but revives quickly by rains. With spiny plants such as cacti, shrubby Mimosoideae, Marantaceae, Anthurrium, Cryptanthus, and bambusoid grasses of the Raddia line. On sandy soil.

    Woody vine in trees at 6 m, with a stem about 4 cm thick; flowers cardinal red with a white throat. Flowering time Sept. through Dec. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
