    On limestone, S-facing slope of hill, with Yucca baccata, Echinocereus engelmannii variegata, Coleogyne ramosissima, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Encelia virginensis, Allionia incarnata (very abundant), Ephedra, Opuntia polyacantha; Echinocactus polycephalus nearby. Frequent here and especially further north.
