A/JU, 4oil New York State, Bronx Co., Bronx, along Kazimiroff Drive, between entrance to New York Botanical Garden and the Metro North train station. Cultivated ornamentals. These large clump grasses are being planted by the city parks department for ornament. 40°52’0rN,73o52’50.1”W. alt. 21 m. Large, dense clump. Leaves white-striped, although some plants in this clump solid green. Two weeks later another clump of this species a few meters away was seen to be visited by Passer domesticus which alighted on the culm and passed branches of the inflorescence between the two parts of the beak, as if removing and eating the spikelets.
