Small colony 2 m. long, not very vigorous. Edge of thin woods of Populus, Celtis occidentalis at base of slope and gravel road of quarry entrance near Hwy. 133. Probably not deliberately planted. [Very large patches, perhaps of M. sinensis Andersson, are occasionally seen in Grant County, mostly at farm houses and sometimes along roads where perhaps not deliberately planted, forming dense, monospecific stands of very showy plants; evidently not spreading elsehwere by seed.] Coll.: M.
