Hwy 120, appx. 4 mi. E of Big Sand Flat. (Cowtrack Mtn. quad:
37° 53.575'N, 118° 50.832'W; T1S R28E SI, NW/4 of NW/4).
Alt.: 2439m/8000ft.
Heavily grazed area with dry cattle trough. Granitic soil w/
scattered granite outcrops, basaltic ridges above, and conspicuous
NE-facing leeward sandy slopes. Upland scrub of Artemisia
tridentata, Purshia tridentata, Leptodactylon pungens,
Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Leymus cinereus, Achnatherum
hymenoides, Phacelia bicolor, Cryptantha circumscissa.
Occasional in dry streambed. Clumps 1dm across.
