Habitat
An open, grassy meadow (now dry but presumably wet in spring) covers ca. 10 acres at the center of the camp. An intermittent stream flows into the meadow from the East and exits to the West. Arid Pinus jeffreyi forest with Ceanothus cuneatus and Arctostaphylos patula common in understory. Common perennial.

Flowers red at anthesis (yellow to orange in bud). Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
