McClure, west side, opposite VFW post at slough
(intermittent stream), 0.2 mile south of Union County
line. Mississippi River Floodplain. McClure 7.5 minute
U.S.G.S. quadrangle. Elevation about 340 feet.
Disturbed wet silty sand; alluvial deposits.
Secondary floodplain forest, degraded, bordering
agricultural land, dominated by Acer saccharinum,
Campsis radicans, Forestiera acuminata, Salix nigra,
with Leptochloa panicoides, Leucospora, Rotala,
Echinodorus, Polygonum spp. Occasional annual
several-stemmed grass 0.5-1 meter tall; spikes narrow;
at margin of soybean fields.
