  • Description

    Pileus 15 mm, convex, slightly irregular; rugulose, densely matted subtomentose, red-brown / maroon (9F5) fading to brown (8E5), especially near margin. Context white, unchanging. Odor mild. Insect damage and small amount of material precluded gathering taste data. Hymenophore Poroid, adnexed; pores 2-3 per mm, round, white; tubes 3-5 mm long, concolorous with pores. Stipe 23 x 4 mm, slightly tapered at base, solid; upper 3/4 greyish rose (11B5), minutely scabrous; basal 1/4 bright orange-yellow (4A7). Context white to pale yellow; brighter yellow at base. NH4OH negative on all tissues. Pileus reminiscent of Xanthoconium separans in color, texture.
