rhizom- atous perennial forming small, loose tufts on desert
pavement and m dry wash with Hymenoclea salsola, Atriplex
confertifolia, Eriogonum inflatum, Erioneuron pulchellum,
Dalea, and Oryzopsis hymenoid.es. Rhizomes extremely brittle;
most of population in flower, some plants in fruit; culms to ca.
3 dm tall.
