Plaines River, west of Joliet I&M Canal Trail # 30 and
State Street, at northeast corner of former smelting
facility, along south margin of powerline access road
and north end of eastern dolomite ridge and quarry.
Crushed dolomite; barrens dumping area on old refinery
land, near ridge of slag - melted/ burned dolomite and
coke.
Disturbed open area, with Salvia reflexa, Setaria
glauca, Panicum capillare, Sporobolus vaginiflorus,
Aristicla oligantha. Aspect of dolomite prairie. Locally
common perennial grass, rachis dull raspberry red.
