resembling those of Cassia Raemeriana, but solitary on elongated axillary peducles; calyx

length 1.5 cm., width 7 cm. West Texas and New Mexico, extending south into Mexico.

nearly equal. Perfect stamens 7; staminodes 3. Legume globose-ellipsoid, sessile, swollen,

Short-caulescent, 3-10 cm. high, strigulose. Leaves numerous; stipules linear, green, 4-10
tnm, long; petiole slender, 1-2 cm. long, tipped by a subulate cusp 4—5 mm. long; leaflets linear
to narrowly lanceolate, glabrous or ciliate, 1-4.5 cm. long, 1.5-5 mm. wide, cuspidate; peduncles
axillary, 3-7 cm. long, one-flowered; pedicel bracteolate at base, 10-15 mm. long; flower-bud
nodding; sepals 7-10 mm. long, obtuse, nerved; petals pale yellow, strongly veined, a little
longer than the sepals; legume inflated, 10-15 mm. long, 8-10 mm. in diameter, densely puberu-
lent; seeds 4-5 mm. broad.
Tips locality : On the Llano and Perdenales, 'Texas.
Distribution: Texas and New Mexico to Coahuila and San Luis Potosí.
