As ground cover, with other mosses and Cladonia, in larch dominated forest; Shrubs: Ledum groenlandicum, Potentilla, Arctostaphylos rubra, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, Betula glandulosa, Juniperus spp.; Herbs; Geocaulon, Senecio lugens, Equisetum arvense, Spiranthes, Carex scirpoidea, etc. Common.
