RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of the Liebre Mountains, Los Angeles County, California, U.S.A. Poaceae Crypsis schoenoides (L.) Lamarck "COW SPRING POND": sag pond on the San Andreas Fault Zone at the N foot of Liebre Mtn and on the S side of West Oakdale Canyon Road, ca 100 m W of the Cow Spring Canyon drainage. Liebre Mountain 7.5' USGS Quadrangle. 34°44'12"N 118°38’45"W. Elevation ca 3770-3790 feet. Low, wet (but dessicating) sink area surrounded by large, old Quercus lobata trees; sink dominated by Juncus balticus, Chenopodium rubrum, Scirpus acutus occidentalis, with margins containing scattered Typha domingensis, Salix, etc. Annual, localized on mud flats toward W end of pond.
