Chiapas: 45-46 km before Huixtla on Hwy. 190, just above
El Rosario between Motozintla de Mendoza and Huixtla.
1670 m. 92° 16'W, 15° 20'N.
Many clumps growing on hillside, but remaining discrete.
Plants to 2 m tall, to 1 cm basal diameter, erect, arching
somewhat at tips. Culms green, becoming golden-yellow
with age or exposure to sun. No new shoots, vegetative.
Rhizomes pachymorph.
