Chusquea nelsonii Scribn. & Smith
Michoacan: Hwy. 15, ca. 30 km E of Morelia on the road to
Cd. Hidalgo, El Salto, at the base of a small waterfall,
Km 212-213. 2200 m. 100° 54'W, 19° 41'N.
Secondary oak forest. Culms to 3 m tall, to 0.7 cm basal
diameter, erect at base, then arching above. Internodes
ca. 28 cm long, terete. Branching infravaginal, central
branches usually developing at middle to higher nodes,
these extending as much as 1 m, rebranching. No new
shoots seen.
