Chusquea aperta L. G. Clark
Oaxaca: Hwy. 175, Oaxaca-Tuxtepec, just beyond pass at
Cerro Pelón, about 300 km before the turnoff to San Juan
Yolox. 2800 m. 96° 31'W, 17° 32'N.
On roadbank in shrubby secondary cloud forest vegetation.
Plants erect at base, then arching and even hanging down
the bank. Culms to ca. 1.5 m tall, to 1 cm in diameter.
A few new shoots present. Rhizomes leptomorph. Branching
infravaginal; a white glaucous band to 0.5 cm wide present
just below the nodes.
