Sierra de Bahoruco Mtns., ca. 40 km. from Cabo Rojo on the Alcoa Aluminum Road, ca. 3 km. NW of the end of the paved road (ca. 20 km. NE of Perdenales). Elev. 1400-1500 m.
Open windswept pine forest (Pinus occidentalis); red lateritic soil.
Only large tree at high elevations. Reforests spontaneously after fire, mining.
