Full sun, dry surface, but moist underneath rocks. Tree, 7 m high, multi-stemmed. Bark grey brown, fissured; branches smooth. Leaves coriacous dark green, lower side paler. Perigone greenish; filaments and style greenish; anthers and stigma pink. Flowers have an odour of vanilla. Fruits green when unripe, later red and finally black, shining.
