    Costa Rica. Puntarenas. Península de Nicoya. Curú, mouth of Marianas Canyon, east side of pasture close to the south side, which is the entrance to the canyon.

  • Habitat

    Edge of pasture where the pasture and forest meet, sunny at at least in late afternoon.

  • Description

    Plant 75 cm high and uprightl upper stem deeply longitudinally ridged; leaves to 12 " long, the margin entire; peduncle green, 19.5 and 24.5 mm long, subterete; pedicels green and with conspicuous raised longitudunal ridges; sepals, at flowering, green 6 mm from pedicel to tip of corolla; calyx of flower 13 mm in diam.; corolla pale green, 5 lobed; filaments nearly glabrous; mature fruits black, one 12 x 13.5 mm with 93 seeds, the other 12.5 x 14 mm with 90 seeds (fruits measured with caliper). Plant on this sheet was collected in Costa Rica; horos are of a plant grown in Connecticut from seed taken from this plant. Leaf taken for DNA; flowers in alcohol; photos in C.R.: seeds collected in C.R. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
