Decumbent shrub, about 3 m. tall, the roots
resembling those of cultivated Manihot, but smaller
(according to J. M. Pires). Growing in exposed and
dry spots, on soil overlying rock. Summit of üarge
granitic outcrop surrounded by forest,’ alt. about 80
m., near Mt. Carupina, 30 33» N, $10 37» W. Frequent.
