Rt. 71, on peninsula at W end of E water-filled pit. Elev.
ca. 480 ft. Disturbed nearly pure white silica sand with
some organic material over soft (crumbling) white silica
sandstone 'pavement'.
Remnant dry sand prairie; scattered dwarfed Quercus
velutina, with Panicum villosissimum, Liatris aspera,
Solidago speciosa, Leptoloma cognatum, Artemisia
campestris, Coreopsis lanceolata. Dominant wiry grass,
open sand, ca. 3 m above lake level, SE tip of peninsula,
with Cyperus.
