H. Walt. PHYTOLACCACEAE Somewhat sprawling shrub 4ft tall, flowers white, fruit dark purple to black, locally common. In a severely cutover maritime seasonal tropical evergreen forest of windshaped trees and shrubs over limestone, just above the beach. Growing with Bursera simarouba, Pithecellobium unguis-cati, Atriplex pentandra, Commicarpus sulcatus, Morinda royoc, M.
citrifolia, Colubrina arborescens, Cenchrus sp., Oplonia microphyllus, Rivina humilis, Achyranthes aspera, Lantana involucrata, and Cassytha filiformis. In an area called “Los Corales”, between the airport and the Punta Cana Beach Resort. 18°33’N, 68°20’W. Punta Cana, La Altagracia Province.
