Abandoned cultivation area along Sandy Cruz trail. Secondary vegetation consisting of relicts of bananas and low shrubs, more or less moist soil, partly shaded by trees.
Erect, few branched herb, up to 1.5 m high. Stems terete, purple red. Leaves light green with purple red margins en petioles, lower side more reddish. Rachis purple red; perigone very light pink, persistent, enlarged in fruit, then thin and light brown; stamens and pistil white. Ovary and unripe fruits green, shiny.
